Hui Xin Claims Silver at U17 European Circuit in Sergovia

Sergovia, January 12, 2025 — In an impressive display of skill and determination, St Albans’ Hui Xin secured a silver medal at the U17 European Circuit competition held in Sergovia, marking a significant milestone in her fencing career. Competing against a formidable field of 178 competitors from around the globe, including athletes from the USA, Bulgaria, Spain, Ukraine, France, and Hong Kong, Hui Xin’s journey to the podium showcased her tenacity and talent.

Hui Xin’s performance throughout the tournament was nothing short of exceptional. She skilfully manoeuvred her way through the elimination rounds, demonstrating remarkable technique and composure under pressure. This commendable result has propelled Hui back to the number one spot in the Great Britain rankings, securing her position for the upcoming European and World Championships later this season.

Trained at the renowned Paul Davis Fencing Academy in St Albans, Hui Xin expressed her delight with her performance, stating, “I am really pleased with my performance. I felt good on the piste and was able to stay on point throughout the day.” The young athlete also acknowledged her struggle with an ongoing injury before Christmas, crediting the support from Physio2Go for her impressive comeback. “With their help, I have been able to come back feeling strong and injury-free,” she added.

In a heartfelt message, Hui extended her gratitude, saying, “I would like to thank my Academy, my coach Alex, and the whole community for their ongoing support.” Her commitment and hard work have not only earned her accolades but have also inspired her peers within the fencing community.

Next on Hui Xin’s agenda is a trip to Turkey, where she will compete in the U17 & U20 European Championships, a challenge she is eagerly preparing for. With her recent successes and a strong support system behind her, the future looks bright for Hui as she continues to make her mark on the international fencing scene.
